Today our time was cut to only 30 seconds. However, we've started with 2 minutes to give ourselves a warm up. We were told a lot about the lines how to draw them and how to show their quality. We were given no time limit for few drawings just to experiment with those lines. hen we were cut to 30 seconds. And with this new technique 30 seconds was no problem at all. I've managed to finish some drawings in even 10 seconds.

Today we went to the National Gallery to draw real people not a model.
In order to complete each drawing I had to forget about the details and draw the whole figure using just few lines of action. I found it quite difficult to draw these people, as they were instantly moving. After about half an hour of drawing I wasn't happy with my drawings and got quite bored as each person had a similar pose. But I kept on drawing and soon my drawing got much better and I've started noticing that each person is different and tellsa different story. I've started to use curves rather than straight lines and the differeneces between each person became much more noticable. I've also discovered that drawings have a lot more power if I drew feet of my models. Because most of the time the feet carry the most of the weight.

Today we've started with few 5 minute and 3 minute drawings. After the last week I didn't have any problem with finishing them and fitting whole figure. However, next drawings were 1 minute drawings. But before that we were told how to draw fast and what to focus on. We must forget about details and concentrate on showing the whole figure, its weight and try to tell the story of the figure by drawing it. Each drawing should be only few main lines of action, just to show everything there is to show in the figure. I was afraid that I won't be able to complete my drawings. But using lines of action I didn't have any problems at all and I was more happy with my 1 minute drawings than the longer ones. 1 minute drawings tell the story much better than the longer ones.
